The Washington layer includes regular-season leagues, state tournaments, and identification programs. They do different jobs.

State premier

Regional Club League (RCL)

Washington Youth Soccer’s statewide league for approved regional clubs. Ask for the team’s division, schedule, coach, and expected travel—not only the RCL label.

North Puget Sound League (NPSL)

A Washington Youth Soccer-sanctioned league serving U9–U19 teams through member associations, with divisions designed to balance competition and travel.

South Sound United League (SSUL)

Local recreation and select competition organized through member associations. Teams join through their club or association rather than registering directly.

Tournament pathways

Washington state cups

State Championships, Presidents Cup, Founders Cup, and Recreational Cup serve different team levels. Cup participation is separate from a team’s regular league placement.

Elite Player Development (EPD)

Washington’s identification and supplemental development pathway. It sits alongside a player’s club environment rather than replacing regular team training or league play.
