Players · Parents · Confidence
Reset after a hard game.
A simple response for players and parents when frustration, mistakes, or disappointment follow the final whistle.
Regulate before reviewing
Hydrate, eat, breathe, and create some quiet. The body often needs to settle before the brain can use feedback instead of hearing it as a threat.
What a parent can say
“I loved watching you play.”
“Do you want company, food, or space right now?”
“If you want to talk about the game later, I am here.”
What the player can keep
- What did I notice earlier than I used to?
- What will I do on the very next play after this kind of mistake?
- Who can help me understand the moment more clearly?
Return to normal life
One recovery action and one next soccer action are enough. Then do something unrelated to the game. Confidence grows partly from knowing a difficult performance cannot take over the whole day.
