Players · Parents · Coach conversation

Ask your coach for a clear next step.

Prepare a short, respectful conversation about role, feedback, or playing opportunity without guessing.

01

Choose the right moment

  • Ask for a brief conversation rather than surprising the coach after a match.
  • Let the player lead when age and circumstances make that appropriate.
  • Bring one topic, not a record of every frustration from the season.
02

A useful opening

I want to understand my role right now.

What are one or two actions I can improve that you will notice?

Could we check in again after I have had time to work on them?

03

Confirm what you heard

  1. Can I repeat that back to make sure I understand?
  2. What would that behavior look like in training or a match?
  3. When would be a reasonable time to revisit this?
04

If the answer stays vague

Ask once for an example and a review date. If respectful conversations repeatedly produce no usable direction, that pattern is meaningful information about the environment.
