The player’s opportunity
Ask for the current plan rather than a promise about the whole season.
- How many players will be on the roster, and how are match minutes handled at this age?
- What role do you currently see for my player, and what would help that role grow?
- How do players receive specific feedback during the season?
The people around the player
- Who is the primary coach, and what happens if coaching assignments change?
- Who should a player or parent contact when a concern cannot be solved at training?
The family commitment
- What does a typical week look like, including travel and optional training?
- What expenses sit outside the listed fee—uniforms, travel, tournaments, camps, or fundraising?
Listen for specifics
A useful answer includes numbers, examples, names, and dates. Thoughtful coaches can explain the current plan while being honest about what may change.
