Your playbook
A 20-minute family check-in
Separate the player’s needs from the program’s sales pitch.
Do this together before registration, a tryout, or a move. The goal is not to find a perfect club; it is to identify what matters most right now.
- 01
Name the player’s reason
Ask what they want more of this season: friends, challenge, minutes, a position, confidence, or a different coaching environment. Write their words down without correcting them.
- 02
Set the family boundaries
Agree on a workable budget, travel radius, weekly schedule, and number of overnight events. Include the full household impact, not only practice times.
- 03
Verify the daily experience
Ask about the exact age group, girls or boys program, team level, league season, confirmed coach, training locations, roster size, role, complete cost, aid, refunds, and how concerns are handled.
